Delving Deeper
It is a challenge to truly communicate the depth and gravitas of the experiences which Pietro offers. Thanks to his skilful photography and his ability to capture the senses in a still, we can combine his personal account coupled with these stunning examples of art to give you a flavour of the kinds of adventures which you can discuss.
It is worth noting that Pietro offers a rounded experience in these areas - not just focusing on the wildlife but also how the indigenous people use and work with their environment in traditions which have spanned generations. His sensitive and respectful relationships with the local people mean that he is able to guide you through your relationship with them in these moments and to learn from their inherent ability to BE NATURE which sustains their tribes and traditions.
Downwind from the Elephants
No breeze, the sun is high, hot, hot, hot. Tough grass aggressively holding our steps. The only relief is in the shade of acacia trees. They are everywhere in this riverine woodland. Even birds are silent…
Following the Hadzabe Tribe
It's early morning in camp. The hunters are gathering around the fireplace smoking and chatting, talking with their characteristic body language that perfectly mimics what they are describing…
A Few Feet from the Last Tuskers
The soil is white, the yellow of fever trees frame our meanderings. We are looking for what is possibly the biggest tusker left in the world. They call him Tim. Does not take much for a change…
The Quest for the Small Cats
The wind is strong, the dust flies and burns your skin. There is always wind. No barrier is there to stop it. That’s how it is in the short grass plains…
Crossing Number Five
Trees give space to grass, the bank of the river appears and on the other side - all the beasts. They are nervous, they are moving up and down the bank, the volume of their calls rising. More are coming from the hills in a hurry…
“These bucket-list experiences stay in your memory for all time and are made more poignant that our ever-changing world is threatening the environments within which they lie. The memories you make will, for some, become past-memories for us all.”
A Wilderness to Explore
The white browed robin chats wakes you up. It is still dark but it’s poetic, until the crested francolins start their chorus then all poetry goes! It is dry and ‘holding the coffee mug with both hands’ kind of cold. A perfect weather for a walk…
The Black Rhino Challenge
Harshness is the first word that pops in my mind, harshness even at the peak of the rainy season…
The Fairy Forest & The Red Wolf
It is cold and it is moist especially when the rain comes. A beautiful forest but different from many. An afro-alpine forest at an altitude of over 3000 mt asl…
The Chimps’ Orchestra
Waves against the turf are lulling me in the early hours. Light is filtering through the mosquito net as a new day comes alive. Waves yes but it’s not the ocean giving me its welcome as I step on a sandy beach. It is the crystal clear water of Lake Tanganyika, the deepest fresh water in the world.
In the Masaai’s Footsteps
Leaving the crater behind, getting deep into the highlands created by the great rift, 60 million years of changes under your feet, the heart of the Kisongo - subtribe of the Maasai…
Pietro is continually looking to expand his collection of experiences, so if you are interested in a wildlife experience in a different part of Africa - or indeed the world - Pietro would be interested in discussing the opportunity further. He has trained with and guided amongst some of the most hostile wildlife on the planet - to apply his experience in other areas is of great interest.
