WALKING SAFARIS

Talk to any old Africa hand and they’ll likely tell you that the best way of experiencing the African bush is on foot. Pietro takes you on an immersive journey where his extensive experience puts you at ease in the environment; helping you feel safe and enabling you to discover more about your surroundings and more about yourself.

A walking safari makes us able to enjoy small things that from the car are rarely noticed; a porcupine track, a coppery dung beetle, a fireball lily. It is beautiful, there is no rush, all four senses are awake and we really get absorbed in nature.

What makes it different from a hike in the woods is the presence of the big mammals. It is not just about seeing them, the sheer knowledge about their potential presence makes it special. The real feeling of being in nature is overwhelming. We feel prey and predators at the same time. We feel again the power of a dominant nature; unforgiving if its own rules are not followed.

We don’t just stroll in the bush, every step is chosen. The wind considered together with covering, safe ground and light. Confrontation with animals avoided but if unavoidable, dealt with in the safest possible way. Each species following a precise pattern; all communicating in an unspoken language that belongs to our deepest natural heritage.
